Nature and Wildlife

Let the wild surprise you. From gentle blooms to thundering hooves, nature speaks to something deep within us.

When we travel, our interests almost always gravitate toward nature. No matter the destination, we’re pulled toward the wild corners—the hush of sunrise, the flutter of feathers, the scent of something blooming on the breeze.

We’ve locked eyes with a towering polar bear at an Arctic camp—safely enclosed while the bear roamed freely just feet away. In Africa, we experienced the thrill of the Big Five and watched a lion take down its prey in a moment of raw, breathtaking intensity. We’ve seen a massive elk trying to free his antlers from a tree, and we’ve sat in stillness as a line of animals crossed the road—cars paused, hearts full.

And it’s not just the animals. Every time we have the chance to explore a garden, we take it. We’ve stood in awe before Princess Diana’s orchid and celebrated the rare and glorious bloom of the Tiger Orchid at the National Orchid Garden in Singapore. We’ve wandered the Balata Gardens in Martinique and marveled at the surreal beauty of Gardens by the Bay. In Japan, the manicured Zen and sand gardens slowed our breath in the most grounding way.

Nature tells another story underwater—one of wonder, silence, and connection. We’ve scuba dived reefs teeming with beautiful coral and fish, drifted past enormous moray eels off the coast of Cozumel, snorkeled with sea turtles in the Galápagos, and come face-to-face with humpback whales on expedition in Alaska. Every moment beneath the surface feels like entering another world.

We’ll never forget the flash of blue-footed boobies dancing on the rocks or the calm wonder of the Niagara Falls Butterfly Conservatory—a lush, tropical glasshouse where over 2,000 butterflies fluttered freely around us as waterfalls trickled and greenery closed in like a dream.

These moments—whether fierce or fragile—remind us what it means to feel truly alive.

Wildlife Encounters

Raw. Real. Unforgettable.

Seeing wild animals in their natural habitat is one of travel’s most humbling and exhilarating rewards. No cages. No filters. Just the thrill of connection and the reminder that we share this planet with extraordinary creatures.

Few experiences compare to witnessing a great migration in motion. Zebras often lead the way, grazing on taller grasses, followed by wildebeest in the millions, and then nimble gazelles bringing up the rear. This ancient journey—driven by the rains and the search for fresh pasture—unfolds in a remarkable, time-tested order.

But not all wildlife moments are measured in herds. At Dulini Lodge in South Africa, I once watched a pack of African wild dogs chase a leopard into the trees. Cornered but composed, it waited for hours as the dogs circled below. Only after they vanished into the bush did the leopard descend—graceful and silent—returning to the wild solitude it calls home.
