Central America: Ancient Roots, Lush Landscapes & Coastal Magic
Where jungle ruins, colorful towns, and Caribbean dreams collide
Explore Our TripsCentral America is a traveler’s dream: compact in size, yet overflowing with biodiversity, history, and heart. This region offers a rare combination—ancient ruins and modern cities, cloud forests and coral reefs, colonial charm and Caribbean rhythm. Whether you’re hiking to a volcano summit, floating through a jungle river, or sipping coffee grown on volcanic soil, every experience here is alive with authenticity.
Some of my most vivid travel memories live here. I wandered the cobbled streets of Antigua as a nearby volcano erupted in the distance, climbed the towering temples of Tikal at sunrise, and snorkeled the Belize Barrier Reef—second only to Australia’s. In Costa Rica, I soaked in Tabacón’s thermal springs beneath a rainforest canopy. I scuba-dived the clear waters off Roatán, cruised the legendary Panama Canal as ships glided past like floating cities, and relaxed on the quiet beaches of Nicaragua. Central America leaves a mark.
Whether you’re drawn to ancient cities, rich biodiversity, or Caribbean shores, this region rewards every kind of traveler. And once you go, you’ll carry its spirit with you.
Guatemala
Volcanoes, Markets & Mayan Majesty
Guatemala stirs the imagination with its blend of ancient cities and vibrant traditions. Antigua’s cobblestone streets and colonial charm left a lasting impression, especially with a live volcano fuming in the distance. In Tikal, I climbed towering temples hidden deep in the jungle—howler monkeys echoing in the mist. Around Lake Atitlán, colorful towns keep Maya culture alive through art, textiles, and ceremony.

Belize
Barrier Reefs, Rainforests & Caribbean Calm
Belize is small but mighty—home to the second-largest barrier reef in the world. I snorkeled along coral gardens teeming with tropical fish and swam the vivid shallows near Ambergris Caye. Inland, jungle lodges near Mayan ruins offer the perfect balance of culture and wildlife. It’s where the Caribbean Sea meets Central American soul.

Cloud Forests, Wildlife & Eco-Adventures
Costa Rica lives up to the hype—lush rainforests, exotic animals, and pure “pura vida” energy. One of my highlights was soaking in volcanic hot springs at Tabacón, nestled in the Arenal rainforest. Ziplining through the cloud forest of Monteverde and spotting sloths in Manuel Antonio are must-dos. Costa Rica is nature’s playground.

Engineering Wonders & Island Retreats
Watching massive ships navigate the Panama Canal was surreal—an engineering marvel in the heart of a tropical city. But Panama has more than modern marvels. Escape to the San Blas Islands for untouched beauty, or wander Casco Viejo in Panama City for colonial flair, cocktails, and rooftop views.

Roatán, off the north coast, is one of Central America’s scuba diving gems. I dove here among shipwrecks and coral walls, surrounded by marine life. On the mainland, Copán’s intricate Mayan ruins reveal a more mysterious side. Honduras is ideal for travelers seeking adventure with fewer crowds.
